Our Finance Teams

Actuarial Reporting

We produce, analyse and review with-profit and non-profit fund and entity results across all bases. In addition, we run the actuarial systems, including the valuation model, economic scenario generator and the aggregation model and work closely with the Finance and Actuarial Systems team to support the release of new systems. We also oversee the Group’s Annual Operating Plan that sets financial targets, monitor management actions that affect those financial targets and develop relevant actuarial reporting processes.

We’re the team that maintains and develops the systems for the Life Finance valuation process and benefits realisation. This involves a wide range of large and small-scale system change projects. We have dedicated teams for MG-ALFA actuarial modelling, SAS coding, and GL and Cognos ledger financial reporting systems. Not to mention teams focusing on release and implementation, and planning and delivery. You’ll need strong IT and data experience, with the ability to come up with creative ways to deliver system changes in a structured business environment.

Finance Governance and Risk

Using our knowledge and experience of Finance operations and Risk Management, we help Life Finance achieve it’s objectives by assisting in the appropriate management of risk. This can take the form of supporting management in their decision making; challenging progress being made in addressing known issues; helping identify emerging risks and mitigating actions; and, undertaking independent reviews to identify where risks are not being managed effectively and improvements in control design and/or operation is required.

Group Tax

As the team that oversees the Group’s tax reporting, we ensure corporation tax and VAT returns are prepared and submitted effectively, with appropriate disclosures. This includes supervising the policyholder tax processes that are operated by the Group’s Outsource Service Providers to ensure they’re correct. We’re also responsible for overseeing compliance with any reporting requirements in foreign tax jurisdictions. Our Tax Risk Management team focuses on minimising tax risk.

Investor Relations

In this team, we keep our investors and analysts informed on the Group’s strategies, financial performance and key business activities. We ensure they have access to relevant and up-to-date information on Phoenix by managing a planned investor relations programme.

Life Accounting

We ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting to the Prudential Regulation Authority. This involves statutory and regulatory reporting and contributing to the group reporting process. We manage the financial relationships with our Outsource Service Providers and oversee their financial and investment activities, ensuring they’re reported correctly. We also oversee our reassurance and treasury functions, manage policyholder liquidity and make sure our accounting teams are ready to respond quickly to new projects.

In ServCo, we operate in a controlled financial environment and provide monthly assurance to the Life company and the Group. This means we work closely with people at all levels of the Phoenix business, as well as with financial regulators. Our teams ensure the group has a robust control environment, as well as supporting and challenging the business and enabling projects to run smoothly.
