Types of role

We welcome actuaries at any stage of their career, from part-qualified to fully experienced. And we recognise talent when we see it. This means that we're always interested in receiving speculative applications, even if there doesn't appear to be any relevant vacancies on our website.

Below is a summary of the types of roles we might recruit for at our Wythall office:

Qualified and Experienced Actuaries

If you're an experienced and qualified actuary, joining Phoenix could be the best move you've ever made. Whether your expertise lies in With-Profits or Non-Profit reporting, Capital Management, Annuities, Unit Linked operations or Asset Liability Management, you can look forward to applying and developing your technical ability in a unique setting. We look for proven performers who are able to demonstrate a solid and progressive career to date.

Newly Qualified Actuaries

The scope and quality of work we can offer here at Phoenix, and the great environment and unrivalled levels of exposure all add up to a fantastic career development opportunity. Whether you're interested in With-Profits or Non-Profit reporting, Capital Management, Annuities, Unit Linked operations or Asset Liability Management, you'll have plenty to choose from. We look for people with a high degree of technical actuarial knowledge, evidenced by a recent qualification, along with a strong level of commercial awareness and analytical ability.

Part-Qualified Actuary Technician

You've completed the CT series of exams and have strong investigative and IT skills, ideally with Prophet or Moses modelling experience, so you'll be a key member of the actuarial team. With limited guidance you'll contribute to the work of the different teams in the life business and provide results with supervisory responsibility for a number of nominated team members. We tend to recruit within our With-Profits Modelling and Stochastic teams, where you'll have access to extensive opportunities to develop your career amongst the professional elite.

Senior Actuary Student

Phoenix will provide you with the chance to develop your actuarial skills with the UK's largest closed life and pension fund consolidator. You'll make an immediate contribution to the work of actuarial teams within the life business, whilst we continue to support your on-going development plan and actuarial exams. Having already completed the CT exam series, and with proven actuarial experience in a commercial setting, you'll work with limited guidance within our finance or actuarial departments. If you're also a confident communicator, with strong investigative and IT/PC skills, preferably including some Prophet or Moses modelling experience, we can promise you a rewarding future in a rapidly developing company.
